Guide to Best Mother's Day Brunches

By: Susan Skolnick | March 23, 2020

Mother’s Day is May 10th this year, and there are plenty of options for spoiling and celebrating the favorite matriarchs in your life. Most moms will appreciate a simple breakfast in bed that includes a breakfast casserole or scrambled eggs, waffles (even frozen will work in a pinch), fresh juice or coffee, fresh flowers on the tray, and lots of love.

But if cooking isn’t your thing or you want to sweep mom off her feet, a great Mother’s Day brunch or buffet brunch consisting of savory frittatas, muffins, breakfast casserole, Eggs Benedict, French toast, waffles, and goat cheese quiche, are relatively easy to find on her special day. Many Mothers Day brunch offerings even include mimosas and Bloody Mary options. A successful Mother’s Day plan, however, does require some real planning.

You don’t necessarily need a big budget or endless creative resources to make this the best Mother’s Day ever. But you do need to focus on the person or people you’re celebrating and make sure your favorite moms are relaxed, feeling cherished, and, most importantly, don’t have to lift a finger on their special day. If life demands require an at-home approach, and you have the time and creative talents to do so, creating a Mothers Day brunch right at home can be a joy for all involved. There are plenty of simple recipes and ideas to get you started, ranging from a full buffet-style mimosa or Bloody Mary bar to a DIY fancy in-home brunch starring savory scones, an asparagus goat cheese galette, and a Nutella berry bruschetta with fresh raspberries.

Many moms, however, will still find a way to be involved in the planning, preparation, financial, or cleaning aspects if the surprise is done at home – even if that surprise is specifically for her. It’s often a better idea, and more of a joy for everyone involved, to just take her out and let the pros do the pampering work. As long as the businesses are open for the holiday, the following restaurants provide annual Mothers Day brunch and some of the best special deals.

Which Restaurants Provide the Best Mother's Day Brunch, Lunch, and Specials?

A lot of businesses still don’t know what they’ll be permitted to offer this year, but the following companies provided excellent deals for mom in 2019 and usually have annual specials. You can expect a continuation of that as long as the restaurant is open for dining on Mother’s Day.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill – Expect early hours and a full Mother’s Day menu at Carrabba’s. The Italian restaurant opens for business at 10:30 am on mom’s special day and previous special menu items have included lobster ravioli and blackberry sangria.

Cheesecake Factory – The Cheesecake Factory offers a brunch every weekend, and that includes Mother’s Day. Current menu options include Giant Belgium Waffles with pecan and cream, Cinnamon Roll Pancakes with fresh maple syrup, and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with fresh strawberries and blueberries. And don’t forget to order or take home one of its delicious desserts with loads of cream cheese. Yum!

Do You Need to Make Reservations?

Mother’s Day is one of the biggest days of the year for dining out. Therefore, it’s always best to assume you will need to make reservations. Call any and all eateries you plan to visit to ensure you’re not waiting hours for a table to become available. Whether you’re planning a Mothers Day brunch or treating mom to a bottomless mimosa bar, the last thing she’ll want to do is stand on her feet waiting most of the day. So, call at least two weeks before Mother’s Day and set up your reservations – or at least make sure the establishment be open and can handle walk-ins.
